"I created the KASPACE Cafe as a space that I needed on the daily and couldn't find. This sort of cafe/restaurant hybrid just doesn't exist, and in a way that is health-centred: focusing on vegetarian and vegan foods - while being modern and having a good vibe from the minute you walk in. From the choice in furnishings to the music, and quality of the food - everything is what I have been looking to experience for so long. I also desired to create a space that is inspiring for creatives and entrepreneurs - that they can come and find space to concentrate, make their notes over a great cup of coffee - or have a meeting with a client - and get their work done. I also thought it was important to include a family vibe - meaning we create a little Kids Nook and play zone for the little ones - something my own daughter appreciates very much! My goal is that everyone leaves better than when they walked in; more full of good vibes." - @ka_space. • During the month of February, we are partnering with influential Black Canadians who are expanding and redefining black representation. “Kevin Allwood reflects a sense of relaxed and modern elegance, focusing on fine ecological fabrics and the perfect fit. A devout vegetarian and Buddhist, Kevin Allwood does not use any leather or fur in his designs. His collections include women’s ready to wear, evening wear, unisex capsule pieces, accessories, and kids. His pieces are not mass manufactured, yet instead produced entirely in the designer’s fashion atelier which creates and sews each piece with attention, devotion, and precision. Because of his dedication to responsible fashion, Kevin Allwood’s pieces are available in limited editions at his Toronto store KASPACE.” - @ka_space •

"Kevin Allwood is a Canadian-Jamaican fashion designer, art director and photographer, highly regarded for his creations, sharp tailoring and couture gowns. In 1986, he launched his brand NEVIK, selling at a kiosk at the Byward Market in Ottawa. He grew the brand and relocated to Montreal to open a shop in 1988. NEVIK became a top destination in Canada with 5 stores in Montreal; The first independent Canadian designer to open a boutique in Ogilvy’s. Kevin Allwood made it his mandate to produce his collections in Canada, supporting the local fashion industry and creating jobs within his private sewing atelier. In 2008, Kevin Allwood took a sabbatical from the fashion industry, production and retail, to dedicate his time and energy to truly finding the meaning of “design your life." It was a personal evolution. He continued to practice Buddhism and became a devout vegetarian. He became concerned for the environment, animal welfare, and children’s causes - which has been motivating his work since. In 2009, he created and published KA MAGAZINE, a Holistic Luxury publication focusing on ethical brands and creatives worldwide, sustainability and charity. In 2015, he launched the brand KEVIN ALLWOOD, a high-end label that puts transparency, ethical sourcing and organic materials at its core. The creative atelier and design studio is located in Toronto. The KEVIN ALLWOOD brand is sold through his concept store/gallery KASPACE in Toronto, a creative retail space that seamlessly marries his ambitions into one conceptual reality; ethical fashion, design, and photography art. In February 2019, Kevin opened the first KASPACE Cafe - a new vegetarian/vegan cafe - focused on an overall health & wellness experience - serving baked goods, breakfast, brunch and lunch. "I want to highlight the beauty in Black features that for centuries have been castigated — such as our beautiful noses, full lips, hair, high cheek bones and beautiful brown eyes. These features have become integral parts of my paintings. I want the audience to be captivated with an intense positive feeling when looking at my portraits." - @BennyBing • During the month of February, we are partnering with influential Black Canadians who are expanding and redefining black representation.
